Our mission,
in depth.
505 Robotics exists to improve community lives by implementing technology in all walks of life. We started as a small group of students who kept noticing the same gap: the schools with the most curious kids often had the fewest resources to feed that curiosity. Robotics kits, competition fees, and tutoring are expensive — and that price tag quietly decides who gets to build the future.
So we built an organization around closing that gap. Across our four branches — Robotics, Computer Science, BioMed, and Humanities — we field competitive teams, run hackathons and training camps, offer free tutoring, and bring hands-on STEM demonstrations into under-resourced elementary, middle, and high schools.
Our long-term goal is simple: make it so that no student in our community is turned away from science and engineering because of what their family can afford. Every dollar we raise, every hour we volunteer, and every competition we enter is measured against that standard.
Access before advantage
Talent is everywhere; opportunity is not. We remove the cost, transportation, and equipment barriers that keep students out of STEM before they ever get a chance to try.
Students leading students
Every program is designed and run by students. Peers teaching peers builds confidence faster than any lecture, and it keeps our work grounded in what learners actually need.
Community over competition
We compete hard, but trophies are a byproduct. The point is the kid in a classroom who sees a robot for the first time and realizes engineering is something they can do.
Transparency in everything
Our finances run publicly through Hack Club's 501(c)(3) platform. Donors can see exactly where every dollar goes, and so can the communities we serve.
